Generally, CrossFit is a strength and conditioning program which generally consists of a mix of aerobic exercise, yoga, gymnastics, and Olympic weightlifting. Workouts focus on varied, high-intensity, functional movements, which include calisthenics, strongman type events, indoor rowing, and running. While increasing the amount a participant can lift is important, the ultimate goal of CrossFit is to increase functional strength.
CrossFit provides an excellent strength platform for many sports, and it is especially conducive to wrestling, as the the workouts mirror the strength programs incorporated by many top programs. Thus, CrossFit Kenmore is offering specialized classes for wrestlers. These classes will incorporate wrestling-based workouts and exercises, while also emphasizing individual goal setting, visualization. The performance of each athlete will be logged after each workout so their progress can be tracked online.
How do we start?
For entry into the classes that emphasize wrestling related skills, purchase a membership below and bring your athlete to our first session, which will occur at 6:45 PM on June 1st. Once registered, each athlete will start with a series of fundamentals courses which are designed to help him or her learn the movements and nature of the workouts. New and/or difficult movements are first scaled and then increase in difficultyaccording to the capabilities of the athlete. For example: Instead of starting clean and jerks with a barbell, athletes new to the lift will start with a broomstick. This rule applies to all movements and exercises. After passing the fundamentals courses, the athletes are free to show up to any wrestler's class and participate in that day’s work out.
We are beginning Monday May 4, 2015, classes will run from 7:00 PM – 8:00 PM Monday through Thursday.
Motivational Monday: Applied goal setting and visualization Tough Tuesday: Yoga and flexibility for champions Warrior Wednesday: Iron sharpens iron - battle to be the best Thirsty Thursday: Endurance, endurance, endurance…
The cost is $80 a month per athlete, but please feel free to inquire about individual scholarships and group discounts.
